Missions

Any study of missions should begin with a definition of what we mean by the term “missions”.  The word mission itself comes from the Latin verb missio, which means “to send.”  And of course, we find many examples in the Bible of God sending His people to do His work. So, literally, missions is all about God’s work of sending. With that simple definition as the foundation for our class, we will spend our time during the next eight weeks looking at what the work of sending entails: the purpose for which God sends His people, who God chooses to send, how the work of sending is accomplished, what those who are sent do, and finally how God’s plan of sending involves all of His people–including you!
